The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) suspects 1024 football players of betting on sports events, according to a statement on the organization's official website.
All players have been summoned to the disciplinary committee in accordance with the federation's charter. The federation has asked FIFA to extend the winter transfer window for Turkish clubs by 15 days due to potential significant personnel losses.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) decided to postpone matches in the third and fourth divisions, where most of the suspected players play, for two weeks. Among players in the top division, the Süper Lig, 27 suspects have fallen, including two Beşiktaş players and two Galatasaray players.
Disciplinary proceedings against the 47 football players, who were only recorded as having participated in bets once, will be conducted later based on additional evidence and information from the competent authorities, the federation noted in a statement.
Earlier, TFF President Ibrahim Haciosmanoğlu announced the suspension of 149 referees for betting on football matches for periods ranging from eight to twelve months, with possible subsequent lifetime disqualification.
