This year, which is being held in Turkmenistan under the motto "International Year of Peace and Trust", rich harvests of food grain and "white gold" have been grown.
The state is creating all the conditions for productive farming and high yields from the fertile land, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
This year, more than 1,4 million tons of wheat have been harvested and delivered to the state. Silkworm breeders have harvested over 2,1 million tons of silkworm cocoons.
Today, the country is confidently moving forward along the path of reform and prosperity. State programs aimed at improving the well-being and social standards of the people are being successfully implemented. Thanks to the large-scale reforms undertaken, Turkmenistan has become one of the world's fastest-growing countries. Along with all sectors of the economy, special attention is being paid to boosting agriculture. The country is implementing comprehensive measures to ensure the sector's profitability, the widespread adoption of cutting-edge technologies, the latest scientific and technical achievements, and advanced global practices.
Starting with the 2024 harvest, state procurement prices for wheat, cotton, and rice have been increased. Particular attention is being paid to strengthening the material and technical infrastructure of farmer associations. Farmer associations and farms, agricultural joint-stock companies, and tenant farmers are also being provided with preferential bank loans. This is intended to help elevate the agricultural sector to a qualitatively new level, enhance the effectiveness of reforms, and increase crop yields.
Farm workers are provided with technical maintenance, mineral fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and pest control chemicals at preferential prices. Payments for harvested crops are made promptly. State programs aimed at domestic production of import-substituting and export-oriented products are being implemented. As part of these programs, up-to-date flour mills, livestock farms, greenhouses, and meat and dairy production facilities are being systematically built and commissioned.
Recently, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the groundbreaking ceremonies for a mineral fertilizer production complex at the S.A. Niyazov etrap Chemical Plant and a urea production complex in the Turkmenbashy etrap of the Balkan velayat. These facilities will soon make a significant contribution to providing agricultural producers with mineral fertilizers, further strengthening the country's food security and export potential.
In order to create food abundance, the state is paying special attention to the study and implementation of best international practices, expanding international cooperation in this area, and fruitful interaction with the United Nations and its specialized agencies. In particular, Turkmenistan's partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is being intensified. FAO supports our country's efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, from promoting climate-smart agricultural practices to strengthening food safety systems.
