U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio intends to visit all Central Asian countries next year. He announced this at a meeting with the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic, held on November 5 at the U.S. State Department.
The meeting at Benjamin Franklin Hall was organized in preparation for the “C5+1” (“Central Asia-US”) summit scheduled for November 6, the US State Department said.
Speaking at the event, Rubio announced his plans to travel to all Central Asian states next year, noting that the visit would last a week or more. He also emphasized the need for joint preparations for this trip.
The head of American diplomacy drew attention to similarities in the economic development of the United States and Central Asia. He stated that the expansion of innovation and entrepreneurship in the United States is consistent with the Central Asian states' goals of diversifying their economies beyond natural resources.
