On October 25, a law came into effect in China requiring bloggers to have official qualifications to create content in the fields of medicine, law, education, and finance, Morocco World News reported, citing the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC).
According to the new requirements, influencers must provide proof of their competence—a diploma, professional license, or certificate. Internet platforms, including Douyin, Bilibili, and Weibo, are responsible for enforcing this rule. Bloggers are also required to cite the research on which their recommendations are based.
The CAC said the initiative aims to combat online misinformation and protect users from harmful advice.
