A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy B. Yalakov, took part in the high-level forum "The CAREC Region and the Multilateral Trading System: Deepening Integration in Central Asia and Beyond," which took place on October 22–23 at the World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters in Geneva.
The forum is being organized by the WTO jointly with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
In his speech, B. Yalakov emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's gradual integration into the multilateral trading system, noting the priority of harmonizing national legislation with WTO standards and strengthening regional cooperation to expand trade and economic ties.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Turkmen delegation met with the leadership of the World Trade Organization. The parties discussed Turkmenistan's current steps toward WTO accession, sharing experiences with member states, and opportunities for technical and advisory support from international partners.
