During his official visit to Georgia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a series of meetings with the country's leadership and government representatives.
On October 21, he met with the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
The parties discussed the development of interparliamentary cooperation, which is an important factor in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries. They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen relations based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, advancing strategic partnership and cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
The head of Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs then met with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili. During the meeting, they discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation, strengthening political dialogue, and developing economic and cultural ties between the two countries. The Georgian President noted that Turkmenistan's policy of neutrality makes an important contribution to ensuring global peace and enjoys broad support from the international community.
On the same day, Rashid Meredov met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. They also emphasized successful cooperation in multilateral formats, primarily at the UN, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
