From October 20 to 24, Turkmenistan is hosting a training course on brucellosis prevention, diagnosis, and control. The course was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as part of the regional project GCP/SEC/027/PAF, “Pandemic Preparedness and Response Based on the One Health Approach in Central Asia.”
Representatives from various ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, as well as specialists from veterinary and medical services, are participating in the training, reflecting the country's commitment to a comprehensive approach to ensuring animal and human health in the spirit of the "One Health" concept.

The training course is led by leading international FAO experts on brucellosis, Svetlana Bardenshtein and Nadav Galon, who have extensive experience in epidemiological surveillance, diagnosis, and prevention of infectious animal diseases in various regions of the world.
Within the framework of the training, national expert Arslan Soltanmyradov, Head of the Department of International and Scientific Relations of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, delivered presentations.He spoke in detail about the country's targeted state policy in the field of animal health protection, measures for the prevention, monitoring and surveillance of brucellosis, as well as the planned activities carried out by the State Veterinary Service with the active support of the Government of Turkmenistan. Particular attention was paid to strengthening laboratory capacity, systematic epizootic monitoring, and improving the professional qualifications of veterinary specialists.

International FAO experts provided training participants with up-to-date information on the global and regional brucellosis situation, modern approaches to animal diagnostics, control, and vaccination, as well as mechanisms for early detection and response to disease cases.
This training represents an important step in strengthening cooperation between FAO and Turkmenistan in the area of veterinary welfare, contributes to the further improvement of the epizootic surveillance and prevention system for zoonotic diseases, and is aimed at achieving the objectives set by the President of Turkmenistan to ensure food security and protect the health of the country's population.
