In Ashgabat, in the banquet hall of the "Yyldyz" hotel, the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan celebrated the ancient Indian holiday of Diwali, which is the Festival of Lights.
According to Turkmenistan: Golden Age, the event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the country, the Indian diaspora, media outlets, and students.
The newly appointed Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan, Bandaru Wilsonbabu, expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for its colossal contribution to the development of constructive economic cooperation and the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two friendly countries.
Guests at the "Festival of Lights" were also treated to a vibrant cultural program. The stage featured a performance of fiery Indian choreography and musical hits from famous films.
Diwali is celebrated annually in the fall. The holiday symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Its distinctive feature is the numerous candles and lanterns with which homes and temples are decorated on this day.
