During his visit to Afghanistan, Turkmen National Leader and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Abdul Ghani Baradar noted that Afghanistan highly values its friendly ties with Turkmenistan, which pursues a foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the Turkmen and Afghan peoples are united by long-standing traditions of brotherhood and mutual respect, as well as shared spiritual and cultural values.
The parties discussed cooperation in trade, economics, fuel and energy, and transport and communications. Particular attention was paid to joint energy and transport projects, including the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, power transmission lines, and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the implementation of these projects will strengthen bilateral relations, contribute to the development of the economies of both countries, and improve the well-being of the Afghan people.
Abdul Ghani Baradar thanked the Turkmen side for its continued support of Afghanistan and regular humanitarian aid, emphasizing the strategic importance of its proximity to peace-loving Turkmenistan.
