Once the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is fully completed, Afghanistan will receive over 1 billion USD annually. This was announced by National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at a ceremonial meeting marking the start of construction of the next stage of the pipeline along the Serhetabat-Herat route, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
"The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline is of great importance for the prosperity of both neighboring countries and the region, and for the formation of an economically sustainable space," Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized. He noted that Turkmen gas workers have successfully completed the 214-kilometer Turkmen section of the pipeline.
According to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, construction of the next section of the pipeline, 153 km long, to the Afghan province of Herat, begins today. A robust material and technical base has been established for the project's implementation, comprising over 200 units of modern and powerful equipment.
"Afghan citizens will be involved in the project, and once it's fully implemented, new jobs will be created for the Afghan people. Furthermore, Afghanistan will receive an average of over 1 billion USD annually," Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said. He added that this will have a positive impact not only on Turkmen-Afghan relations but also on the region as a whole.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed gratitude to the Turkmen gas workers for their participation in the implementation of this large-scale project, as well as to the Afghan side for its support and participation in its implementation.
“May the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the Turkmen and Afghan peoples always flourish!” he concluded.
