The exhibition "Ancient Civilizations of Turkmenistan" will open for the first time at the Capitoline Museum in Rome. Archaeological treasures from the ancient cultures of Margiana and Parthia will be presented to the Italian public.

According to newscentralasia.net, the exhibition will run from October 25 to April 12, 2026.

The exhibition will feature finds made in the territory of Margiana (3rd–2nd millennium BC), located in the southeast of Turkmenistan, and ancient Parthia, in particular from the archaeological complex of Nisa (2nd century BC – 1st century AD), which is located in central-southern Turkmenistan.

On display will be gold necklaces with semi-precious stones from Gonur-Depe (3rd–2nd millennium BC), clay heads depicting rulers and warriors, as well as ivory rhytons from the Hellenistic period (2nd century BC – 1st century AD), presented by the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan.

The exhibition is organized by Roma Capitale, the Department of Culture and the Capitoline Office of Cultural Heritage in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.

The project's partners are Zètema Progetto Cultura, ISMEO (International Association for Mediterranean and Oriental Studies), CRAST (Turin Centre for Archaeological Research and Excavations in the Middle East and Asia), and the University of Turin, the source notes.
