On October 19, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to return the stolen treasures from the Louvre and bring those responsible to justice.

The head of state commented on the theft in a post on the social media site X. He said the crime constituted an attack on cultural heritage, which is part of the country's history.

"We will return the works of art," Macron declared.
