A book of Magtymguly Pyragy's poems, "Aşyk bolmuşam," has been published in Azerbaijan in both Azerbaijani and Turkmen. According to the newspaper "Turkmenistan," the publication was prepared by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in honor of the poet's 300th anniversary.
The new book includes 132 poems by Magtymguly and their translations into Azerbaijani.
The book presentation took place as part of an international conference organized at Magtymguly Turkmen State University. Prominent Turkmen and Azerbaijani writers, scholars, and public figures spoke at the event.
"This new book is further evidence of respect for Magtymguly Pyragy and his immortal work. I would like to note that one of the special goals of the Foundation, which published this book, is to popularize the literary legacy of prominent figures from the Turkic world. In this regard, the Foundation has prepared a collection of books entitled "Great Figures of the Turkic World," "Pearls of Turkic Literature," and "Pearls of Science in the Turkic World." The collection "Pearls of Turkic Literature" includes a new book of poems by Magtymguly Fragi in Azerbaijani and Turkmen. We are honored to present this new book to a wider audience in the great thinker's birthplace—Turkmenistan, at the university named after him. "As a reminder, last year the Foundation presented this book at the 10th Baku International Book Fair, which is regularly held in our country's capital and generates great interest," said Aktoty Raimkulova, head of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, at the presentation ceremony.
