China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will be a platinum sponsor of the 30th International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2025," which will be held October 22–24, 2025, in Ashgabat. This was announced by the Organizing Committee of the anniversary energy forum.
CNPC has been operating in Turkmenistan since 2002, investing in the oil and gas sector and providing engineering services. In 2007, the company signed a production sharing agreement with the Turkmengas State Concern for the Bagtyyarlyk Contractual Area and a long-term natural gas supply contract. According to media reports, the Chinese corporation's total investment in the project exceeds 9,4 billion USD.
The Bagtyyarlyk contract area, which includes the Saman-Depe, Altyn-Asyr, and other fields, has become a key source of Turkmen gas supplies via the Turkmenistan-China pipeline. Since 2007, the company has been commercially developing fields on the right bank of the Amu Darya River.
In 2024–2025, CNPC will continue to participate in the modernization of Turkmenistan's gas industry. The company is expanding the GPP-2 gas processing plant in the Bagtyyarlyk Contractual Area, repairing compressor rotors, and optimizing production processes to improve facility reliability.
According to its corporate strategy, CNPC adheres to the principles of "clean alternatives, strategic substitution, and green development," aiming to achieve near-zero carbon emissions by 2050. These goals are in line with the OGT 2025 theme of "Energy. Innovation. Development."
CNPC's participation as a platinum sponsor confirms the company's long-term commitment to developing Turkmenistan's energy sector and strengthens the forum's international status. Detailed information is available at www.ogt-turkmenistan.com.
