The new Turkmen city of Arkadag is a world-class project completed in a short timeframe. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin told reporters following a meeting of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
"We saw the newly built Arkadag city. I want to say that this is a world-class project that was completed in a short time," he said.
He noted that the city is expected to accommodate 65 thousand people by 2027, with approximately 30 thousand of them working directly in Arkadag. "This is a combined development system that includes housing, a special economic zone, a technology park, and an educational cluster with a very large number of educational institutions. This is a striking example of balanced, integrated development," Khusnullin explained to reporters.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister noted the use of "smart city" elements in Arkadag, as well as the high availability of kindergartens and schools. He placed particular emphasis on landscaping.
"There are few cities in the world where 45% of their territory is green. It's important to understand that this is artificial greenery—there were no such green spaces in this area before. This is a very interesting experience," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
During his working visit to Turkmenistan, Khusnullin also visited the Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy and the city circus, where he praised the skill of the equestrians. In the village of Kipchak, he toured the country's main mosque, the Turkmenbashy Ruhy Mosque, noting its scale and architecture.
