A delegation from Turkmenistan, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Culture and the National Commission for UNESCO, took part in a seminar-conference on "Strengthening the Potential for Preserving the Viability of Cultural Heritage in Central Asia," which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
As reported on the website medeniyet.gov.tm, the Turkmen delegation actively participated in discussions and practical exercises aimed at improving mechanisms for the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
The conference was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty with the participation of delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Participants reviewed updated questionnaires for inclusion on the List of Objects in Need of Urgent Protection and discussed successful experiences from other countries.
The conference included a trip to the "Kazakh Oner" craft center in Almaty.
The seminar was an important step in strengthening cooperation between Central Asian countries in preserving intangible cultural heritage, implementing international standards for the protection of cultural heritage, and sharing experiences.
