The volume of export, import, and transit traffic between Turkmenistan and Russia has increased significantly thanks to joint efforts to develop the North-South International Transport Corridor (ISTC). This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev at a meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian commission on economic cooperation.
"Transport cooperation has been and remains one of the key areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. Thanks to the coordinated work of relevant agencies, we are seeing steady positive momentum," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
He reminded that in 2023, a subcommittee on transport was created within the intergovernmental commission, which ensures effective interaction between the transport structures of the two countries.
Atagulyev also emphasized the successful implementation of the program to develop cooperation between the railway departments of Turkmenistan and Russia for 2023-2025. According to him, the approval of a draft roadmap for cooperation in the transport sector is in the final stages.
"We are interested in continuing work on developing transportation along the eastern route of the North-South International Transport Corridor," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
