President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, who arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports. The head of state emphasized the importance of the visit for maintaining regular intergovernmental dialogue between the two countries.
Marat Khusnullin conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to the President of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty. The Russian Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russia highly values its strategic partnership with Turkmenistan and expressed admiration for the country's socioeconomic achievements.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in all areas. Particular attention was paid to trade and economic ties, as Russia remains one of Turkmenistan's leading trading partners. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the Russian Deputy Prime Minister fruitful negotiations with his Turkmen colleagues and a successful meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The parties noted the successful development of Turkmen-Russian relations not only bilaterally but also multilaterally, including cooperation within the UN, the CIS, and the Central Asia–Russia format. Cultural and humanitarian cooperation, encompassing contacts in science, education, culture, and healthcare, is also an important area of partnership.
