A delegation from the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan took part in a working visit with representatives from Central Asian countries dedicated to sustainable energy development and strengthening regional cooperation. The event was organized with the assistance of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), according to the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Belgium.
The visit was part of the EU4SustainableCentralAsia: Renewable Energy in Central Asia (EURECA) project, supported by the European Union and Germany. The program included thematic meetings, technical site visits, and a regional dialogue on energy policy.
On October 10, a meeting of energy sector leaders from Central Asian countries, including representatives from the EU and GIZ, was held at the GIZ office in Brussels. The agenda focused on strengthening consensus on renewable energy priorities and regional electricity trade, discussing practical steps to develop cross-border cooperation, and harmonizing market approaches.
Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening. He emphasized the country's dual responsibility as an energy power: ensuring stable energy supplies in the region while simultaneously fulfilling its climate commitments by promoting clean energy.
The ambassador presented examples of practical work in this area: the completion of a 10 MW hybrid solar-wind power plant and preparations for the launch of a 300 MW solar power plant with the participation of international partners. Work on wind energy development and the implementation of smart energy solutions, including in the city of Arkadag, was also noted.
The delegations from Central Asian countries included heads and deputy heads of relevant agencies, as well as technical specialists. The meeting focused on personnel training and practical cooperation programs.
