Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.
The head of state arrived in the capital of Tajikistan to participate in the second Central Asia-Russia summit and the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on cooperation in regional security and environmental protection. Particular attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation as a priority area of bilateral relations.
The presidents noted the advisability of taking the necessary measures to fully unlock the potential of the two countries, increase mutual trade turnover, and diversify economic ties.

The Intergovernmental Turkmen-Tajik Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation plays a key role in developing bilateral relations. The commission's last meeting was held in Ashgabat in October 2024. The parties agreed to hold the next meeting in the near future.
Turkmenistan and Tajikistan also attach great importance to the development of relations in the sphere of culture and scientific and educational cooperation.
Following the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon reaffirmed both countries' commitment to further developing and strengthening their traditionally friendly relations and exchanged best wishes.
