Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman signed a program of inter-ministerial cooperation for 2026-2027. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday in Ashgabat, according to a statement from the Turkmen ministry.
During the meeting, the heads of the foreign policy departments discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The parties emphasized that contacts at the highest and highest levels play a key role in the development of interstate relations. Particular attention was paid to the further development of constructive cooperation within international organizations, in particular the UN, the EU, and the OSCE.
It was noted that Croatia consistently supports Turkmenistan's neutral status and initiatives aimed at strengthening peace, stability and ensuring sustainable development both in the region and beyond.
The parties identified trade and economic cooperation as a key area of partnership. They discussed cooperation in such areas as shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, construction and textile industries, high technology, tourism, and others. In this context, the importance of the work of the Turkmen-Croatian Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was emphasized.
The ministers discussed expanding the legal framework for cooperation, emphasizing their interest in strengthening ties in education and science, healthcare, and other areas. The parties noted the importance of further developing cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Croatia.
