Foreign Language Week, dedicated to English and Japanese, was held in a festive atmosphere at the Oguz han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan.
The event, organized by faculty from the university's Department of Foreign Languages in Technical Fields and the Department of Linguistics, also included art exhibitions and interesting competitions, according to the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
One of the Week's highlights was an exhibition dedicated to Japanese culture. Students displayed national costumes, literature, artwork, and origami—the Japanese art of paper folding. Handcrafted birds, flowers, and origami of various shapes adorned the exhibition hall. Each work was accompanied by brief explanations in English and Japanese.
The Week's events imbued the university with a truly unique atmosphere. Bilingual greetings, Japanese origami, cherry blossom images, and calligraphy adorned the walls. At the closing ceremony, students noted that the week had heightened their interest in Japan, strengthened their English skills, and helped them feel part of an international community.
Faculty and organizers noted that such large-scale cultural events enrich academic life and strengthen intercultural understanding.
