The Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan ratified an agreement between the governments of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan on cooperation in combating crime. The document was signed on October 10, 2024, in Ashgabat, kazakhstan.today reports.
The agreement creates a legal basis for cooperation between the two countries in combating organized crime, terrorism and extremism, the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, illegal migration, and human trafficking. The document also covers other types of crimes whose investigation requires joint efforts by the competent authorities of both countries.
Under the agreement, the parties will fulfill mutual requests, exchange operational and forensic information, share professional expertise, deploy specialists, and share regulatory legal acts in the field of crime prevention. Assistance in training and professional development for law enforcement officers of both countries is also provided.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan have been designated as responsible for implementing the agreement.
