The sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Hungarian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held on September 29-30 in Ashgabat.
The meeting was attended by leaders and representatives of several government agencies and business circles from both countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The co-chairs of the commission are the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Mammetguly Astanagulov, and the Deputy State Secretary for Eastern Relations at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Adam Stifter.
During the commission meeting, a wide range of traditional areas were discussed, including agriculture and food industry, water resources management and environmental protection, health care and the medical industry.
The meeting continued with an exchange of views on developing cooperation in science and education, culture, sports, and tourism.
The particular importance of the speedy signing of the Agreement between the Governments on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments was noted, which will expand cooperation between the economic structures of the two countries and create a legal basis for the inflow of Hungarian investment into Turkmenistan.
The meeting participants expressed confidence that the new agreements reached during the current meeting would further strengthen the constructive dialogue in the interests of the two countries.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed. The seventh meeting of the commission is scheduled to be held in Budapest, the source noted.
