On September 30, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a conference entitled "International Cooperation: A Guarantee for Strengthening Peace and Sustainable Development." Deputy Prime Minister Rashid Meredov, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations, faculty and students of the institute, and the media participated in the conference.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in his speech, R. Meredov noted that, in the face of modern challenges and threats, Turkmenistan is consistently advancing a foreign policy based on close cooperation with the UN and strengthening its central role in global affairs. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the Future Pact, emphasizing that Turkmenistan's priority positions, presented at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, are fully aligned with its principles and goals.
The Minister highlighted Turkmenistan's initiatives to strengthen international law, including the proposal to declare 2028 the Year of International Law, as well as the expansion of the use of neutrality and preventive diplomacy instruments to ensure global security and sustainable development.
Other speakers emphasized that Turkmenistan's proposals, such as the establishment of the International Forum "Central Asia – a Space of Peaceful Coexistence," the World Summit on a Culture of Peace and Trust, the Caspian Environmental Forum, and the creation of the Regional Center to Combat Desertification, open up new opportunities for deepening international dialogue and partnership.
The event's participants unanimously expressed support for Turkmenistan's foreign policy, based on the principles of permanent neutrality, peace, and trust, and reaffirmed their readiness for further cooperation to achieve the common goals of the international community.
At the conclusion of the conference, the participants adopted an Address to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the source noted.
