A working meeting between specialists from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Urgench from September 15 to 19. The Turkmen working group was led by the Head of the Customs Statistics Department of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
According to the website of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the meeting was devoted to a comparative analysis of foreign trade statistics between the two countries.
The meeting was organized as a result of the implementation of the Protocol between the customs services of the two countries on the exchange of information on the movement of goods in mutual trade, which was signed in 2022, the source noted.
The comparison of import and export data for various commodity groups was aimed at identifying and assessing potential discrepancies, which, in turn, made it possible to create mutually consistent data sets on trade between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the source notes.
