Students from the Oguz han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, after a brilliant performance at the World Sustainable Development Goal Challenge (WSDG 2025) in Malaysia, returned home with gold medals, according to "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."
Thus, Suleymanmuhammet Shamuhammedov, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, was awarded a gold medal and the competition's highest honor, the WSDG Innovation Grand Award. He submitted his research paper, "Scientific Foundations of Green Cement Production for Sustainable Development," on reducing the negative environmental impacts of cement production. He placed particular emphasis on energy efficiency and the implementation of environmentally friendly production methods for this widely used building material. Suleymanmuhammet's work has received high praise from leading global scientific organizations and is recognized as an important solution for sustainable development. This is another victory for Suleymanmuhammet this year: he successfully competed in the BIICC-2025 competition in Malaysia and the YISF competition in Indonesia.

The joint project "Innovative Technology for Obtaining Pure Gypsum from Phosphogypsum, an Industrial Waste," prepared by Aymyrat Khalnazarov, a third-year student in the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, and Jemal Sharipova, a third-year student in the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, was awarded a gold medal and a special prize in the "Best Innovation in Sustainable Development" competition. They presented the development of a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method for producing pure construction gypsum from phosphogypsum, a byproduct of phosphate fertilizer production and a type of environmentally harmful industrial waste.

Atamyrat Altyyev, scientific director of the national team of Turkmenistan and senior lecturer in the Department of Applied Chemistry at the University of Engineering and Technology and candidate of technical sciences, made a significant contribution to the victory of the talented students.
The competition, jointly organised by the Malaysian Multimedia University and the Malaysian Young Scientists Organisation, received over 2100 scientific papers from university students from 15 countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Romania, Brazil, El Salvador, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UAE, Egypt, India and Palestine.
Such outstanding achievements by young Turkmen scientists at prestigious international competitions, amidst highly competitive environments, are clear evidence of the dynamic development of science and education in the country and strengthen Turkmenistan's position in the international scientific community.
