Turkmenistan has proposed the creation of a Regional Center to Combat Desertification for Central Asian countries. This was announced by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the UN General Assembly.

"We believe that the creation of such a center will contribute to the consolidation of regional potential, strengthen cooperation in environmental protection, and make a significant contribution to achieving sustainable development goals," the head of Turkmenistan noted.

In particular, the center will focus on combating climate change and preserving terrestrial ecosystems.
