Pakistan is proposing to resume direct flights with Turkmenistan to strengthen bilateral cooperation. This was announced by Pakistani Ambassador to Ashgabat Faryal Leghari in an article published in the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
"Pakistan's other proposal is to resume direct flights between Turkmenistan and Pakistan," the diplomat noted.
According to her, a significant number of travelers from Pakistan, with a population of over 240 million, could take advantage of the two-hour flight route to Ashgabat and “Turkmenistan Airlines” key destinations in Europe, Russia, China, the Far East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Leghari emphasized that air travel will open up opportunities for trade, medical tourism, and educational and cultural exchanges. It will also facilitate the rapid delivery of perishable goods, including mangoes, citrus fruits, vegetables, meat, and rice.
The Ambassador noted Pakistan's readiness to provide scholarships to Turkmen students, launch bilingual Urdu and Turkmen language programs, and establish an international school.
In the area of trade, Pakistan already allows Turkmen entrepreneurs to obtain business visas within 24 hours. Particular attention is being paid to textile trade – Turkmen cotton, yarn, and wool can be exported to Pakistan, while Pakistani textiles can find a market in Turkmenistan, the diplomat noted.
