Heads of agricultural agencies and experts from subordinate institutions in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the 37th meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Council on Agro-Industrial Complex Issues, which took place on September 18 in Dushanbe. Representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations also participated in the event.
The meeting participants summarized the results of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture's chairmanship of the council, discussed issues related to the development of cooperation in agriculture and food security, and the development of a regulatory framework that will define the main areas of future industry cooperation and create the necessary foundation for building long-term ties.
An exchange of views on current issues of cooperation was held.
The council members noted with satisfaction the fruitful cooperation between ministries and agencies within the council's permanent Working Group on Agriculture.
The next, 38th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council on the CIS Agro-Industrial Complex is scheduled to be held in the second half of 2026 in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the source notes.
