A trial visa-free regime between China and Russia began on September 15, 2025, and will last until September 14, 2026. This was reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.
According to the new rules, Russian citizens can enter China and stay there for up to 30 days without obtaining a visa. There are no restrictions on the number of entries per year.
The visa-free regime applies to tourism, business trips, participation in humanitarian exchanges, visiting relatives and transit. Tourists can visit any territory of China, except for regions with a special regime for foreigners, such as Tibet.
The regime does not apply to those who plan to work, study or engage in journalistic activities in China. Drivers, forwarders and translators are also excluded.
To enter the country, Russian citizens only need to have a Russian passport and fill out a migration card. Random testing for COVID-19 is carried out at the border.
According to ATOR, the first tourists to take advantage of the new rules were residents of the Far Eastern regions of Russia. Chairman of the Board of the “World Without Borders” Association Alexander Lvov noted that the entry procedure is proceeding as usual.
