The Turkmenistan Jiu-Jitsu Team showed excellent results at the 20th Balkan Open Championship, which is being held in Athens from September 11 to 14. Following the two days of competition, Turkmen athletes won 21 medals of various denominations.
The national team has 8 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Several athletes performed particularly well, winning several medals. Jelilmuhammet Hojamyradov became a two-time champion, winning in the 94 kg category in the “ne waza” and “no gi” disciplines.
Hurma Abdyeva also showed an excellent result, winning gold in the 52 kg weight category in “ne waza” and “no gi”, as well as bronze in fighting, and an additional bronze medal in the 57 kg category.
Among other winners, Gudrat Esenov (gold in 69 kg, bronze in nogi fighting), Begli Saparov (gold in ne waza 69 kg, bronze in nogi), Suray Gokgaeva (gold in ne waza 57 kg) distinguished themselves.
Silver medals were won by Rahmet Taganov (in the disciplines ne waza master1 77 kg and nogi 69 kg), Parahat Rahmanov (nogi 62 kg) and Aynur Kullieva (ne waza and nogi in the 52 kg category).
Bronze medals were also won by Bayram Revshenov in three disciplines in the 62 kg category.
The competition continues until September 14.
The Turkmen delegation is in the Greek capital from September 10 to 16.
