Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rovshan Annaberdiyev held a meeting in Ashgabat with Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Kirill Logvinov. The parties discussed issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation at the UN platform, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

As noted in the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, a thorough exchange of opinions took place on the most pressing issues on the UN agenda. The parties outlined in detail their national priorities and initiatives at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, current trends in the functioning of the World Organization were discussed. The UN-80 reform initiative was assessed. It was noted that any transformations should be well-considered, rational and aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the World Organization, and carried out in strict accordance with the provisions of its Charter.

Following the meeting, a high degree of coincidence of approaches of Moscow and Ashgabat to a wide range of issues on the international agenda was confirmed. A mutual intention to further deepen the strategic partnership within the framework of the World Organization, based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests, was expressed.
