The meeting of the heads of the National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent of the CIS countries “International Year of Peace and Trust – Humanism and Neutrality” was recently concluded in Ashgabat.
Following the meeting, the National Planning Coordinator of the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan, Dilorom Mirova, told a Turkmenportal correspondent the following:
"The Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan expresses its sincere gratitude for the opportunity to take part in this meeting, organized with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of response to modern humanitarian challenges.
Participation in the conference was a valuable experience for us in terms of sharing knowledge and vision of National Societies on responding to humanitarian challenges and their consequences. The discussions touched upon current areas of humanitarian diplomacy, issues of digitalization of activities aimed at improving the quality of services provided and strengthening the potential of National Societies.
In its speeches and presentations, the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan outlined the crisis situations that our country is facing, outlined the available resources and emphasized the need to strengthen activities in a number of areas to reduce the vulnerability of the population and save lives.
We would like to especially note the constructive interaction with the NOKP of Turkmenistan. We are pleased with the opportunity to exchange experience and cooperate in such key areas as the development of a branch network, income-generating activities and the development of volunteerism.
We express our readiness to further deepen our partnership with our colleagues from Turkmenistan and would be grateful for the opportunity to conclude a cooperation agreement. We also propose outlining joint initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of vulnerable groups in crisis situations.
I would like to separately note our impressions of the beautiful country of Turkmenistan. The city of Ashgabat amazed us with its beauty, architectural harmony and cleanliness. But we were especially touched by the hospitality, sincerity and nobility of the Turkmen people. Attention to guests, warm and friendly attitude - this is a vivid manifestation of national culture, which we felt at every step. This made our stay in Turkmenistan especially warm and memorable."
Let us remind that within the framework of the above-mentioned meeting, the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan signed memorandums of cooperation with the Russian Red Cross and the Qatar Red Crescent Society.
