In the Ongaldy gengeshlik of the Ak Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat, a ceremonial opening of the new modern village of Dovletli Mekan was held on the eve of the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the village territory includes 400 residential buildings, an administrative building of the gengeshlik, a health center, a secondary school for 640 students, and a kindergarten for 320 children. A shopping center and modern infrastructure have also been built.
The ceremony was attended by heads of local government bodies, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, velayat and etrap Halk Maslahaty, public organizations and residents of the etrap.
The participants were read a congratulatory address by the President of Turkmenistan.
The creation of new settlements is one of the priority areas of the country's socially oriented state policy. The new village will have modern water, electricity, gas and sewerage systems, road transport and communications infrastructure, green areas and a park.
The houses were built taking into account the peculiarities of rural life - each yard has land plots with outbuildings and a place for a car. The houses are decorated in a national style and furnished with high-quality furniture, the report says.
