As we reported earlier, the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Russian Red Cross. On the Turkmen side, the document was signed by the Chairperson of the NRCST Maral Achilova, on the Russian side – by the Chairperson of the RRC Pavel Savchuk.
The head of the RCC, who is in Ashgabat on a visit, commented on the interaction between the two humanitarian organizations in a conversation with a Turkmenportal correspondent.
"The Russian Red Cross and the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan have been friends for many years. We meet regularly, both online and at events held by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Therefore, signing the memorandum is not the first step in our cooperation, since our partnership has been established at a fairly high level. It would be more correct to say that the memorandum will give impetus to the already established cooperation in certain areas, namely, response to emergency situations, exchange of experience in the development of the volunteer movement, medical and social direction, including care for the elderly, assistance to the disabled, disease prevention. Each of our national societies has accumulated valuable experience and practice in each of these areas, and the exchange of experience is the key to the successful development, as it seems to me, of any organization."

P. Savchuk also noted the value of the meeting of the heads of the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of the CIS countries, representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, which took place in Ashgabat on September 4-5.
"The last meeting of the national societies of the RC and CP of the CIS and Eastern Europe was in 2022 in Moscow. I am very glad that this year we met in Ashgabat with a fairly wide range of participants. We are all united here by strong ties of friendship and cooperation, and we had something to discuss, since everyone has similar problems and we must seek solutions together."
