China will introduce a trial visa-free regime with Russia for one year from September 15, 2025. This is reported by TASS, citing a statement by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun.
The visa-free regime will be in effect from September 15, 2025 to September 14, 2026. To enter China, Russian citizens will only need to present a foreign passport.
Currently, Russian tourists require a visa to visit China, although it is possible to enter without a visa as part of organized groups or when visiting certain visa-free regions, such as Hainan Island.
According to the new rules, it will be possible to enter China for tourism, business, and to visit relatives and friends. The maximum period of stay in the country will be 30 days per trip.
It has not yet been specified how many days in total Russians will be able to stay in China over a six-month or year period under the new regime.
