The Turkmenistan national football team tied with the Kyrgyzstan team with a score of 1:1 in the first round of the group stage of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Nations Cup. The match took place at the “Zhar” stadium in Tashkent.
The goals in the match were scored at the end of the first half. In the 44th minute, the score was opened by the defender of the Turkmen national team Vepa Jumayev, for whom this goal was the debut in the national team. The Kyrgyz managed to win back in the next minute thanks to an accurate strike by Joel Kojo.
This was the fifth meeting between the national teams of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. In the previous four games, the Turkmen footballers won three victories and suffered one defeat.
Both teams are playing in group A of the tournament. In another match of the group, the national teams of Uzbekistan and Oman also drew with a score of 1:1. After the first round, all four teams scored one point each.
In the second round, which will take place on September 2, the national team of Turkmenistan will meet the team of Uzbekistan at the “Olympic” stadium in Tashkent. The game starts at 19:30 Ashgabat time. On the same day, Kyrgyzstan will play against Oman.
