Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung, who took office on June 4.
The head of the Turkmen state wished Mr. Lee Jae-myung great success in his responsible state activities.
As noted during the conversation, Turkmenistan and Korea maintain active contacts at the bilateral level, within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN, and at the regional level in the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” format.
In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the trade and economic partnership between the two countries: over the years, positive experience of interaction with leading Korean companies such as “Hyundai”, “Daewoo” and “LG” has been accumulated. Various projects have been implemented with their participation, in particular, the gas chemical complex project in the Balkan velayat for the production of 386 thousand tons of polyethylene, 81 thousand tons of polypropylene worth more than 3 billion 400 million USD, as well as the project of a plant for cleaning commercial gas from sulfur as part of the development of the “Galkynyş” field with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters annually and a cost of over 1 billion 484 million USD.
It is also possible to indicate the project of a complex in the structure of the Turkmenabat Chemical Plant named after S.A. Niyazov for the production of 350 thousand tons of superphosphate and 100 thousand tons of ammonium sulfate per year at a cost of 682 million USD.
The cultural and humanitarian sphere occupies a special place in bilateral cooperation. The Korean language is taught in higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, mutual Culture Days and other thematic events are held. In this regard, the interlocutors emphasized the existence of enormous potential for intensifying targeted cooperation.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Lee Jae-myung to the upcoming representative forum, which will be held in Ashgabat on December 12 in honor of the "International Year of Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
