Turkmenistan and Russia have agreed on the need to complete work on an intergovernmental agreement to establish a Turkmen-Russian university in Ashgabat. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov following talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
“We emphasized the need to finalize intergovernmental documents that will give us the opportunity to create a Turkmen-Russian university in Ashgabat,” Meredov told reporters.
The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also noted the importance of preparing the relevant documents for the construction of a new building for the Russian Drama Theatre named after Alexander Pushkin in Turkmenistan and an additional building on the territory of the joint comprehensive school.
"The countries agreed to continue the positive practice of relations in the fields of science, education and culture," the diplomat emphasized. He added that the parties assess the negotiations as "very constructive."
