Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov will attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will be held in the Chinese city of Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. This was announced by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Liu Bin, Xinhua reports.
According to the Chinese diplomat, more than 20 foreign leaders, as well as representatives of international organizations, will take part in the event. The heads of state will discuss the successful experience of the SCO, outline the directions for the development of the organization and reach consensus on cooperation within the SCO.
As Liu Bin emphasized, the upcoming summit will be the fifth SCO summit in China and “the largest since the founding of the organization.” Chinese President Xi Jinping will host a welcome banquet for participating leaders and heads of international organizations, and will also hold a number of bilateral events.
The diplomat noted that the meetings will help advance the organization toward the goal of creating “an even more cohesive community of shared destiny,” and the Chinese leader will present plans for developing bilateral relations between China and the participating countries.
Earlier it was reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to take part in the next summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
