The Turkmen city of Arkadag and the Azerbaijani city of Fizuli have established sister city relations. The corresponding protocol was signed as part of the signing ceremony of bilateral documents that took place following the trilateral summit meeting of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The signing ceremony was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In addition to the twinning protocol, agreements were concluded in the fields of transport, aviation and trade. In particular, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Service "Türkmenhowaýollary" and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan on the development of international air traffic, as well as documents on cooperation in the field of shipbuilding, civil aviation and transport and logistics interaction with the participation of Uzbekistan.
Particular attention was paid to the development of trade and economic ties – a cooperation agreement was signed between the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan and the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
Following the trilateral meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev adopted a Joint Statement of the three states.
The document emphasizes that further development of trilateral cooperation will contribute to ensuring peace and stability, strengthening trust and mutual understanding both regionally and globally.
