A new women's football club, Kerwen, has been created in the capital of Turkmenistan. Its members include both experienced football players from the country's women's national team and promising players from the youth and junior teams.
“It is with great pride and excitement that we announce the opening of a new women’s football club, Kerwen, based in the heart of Turkmenistan,” the club’s press service said in a statement.
The club's coaching staff was headed by Maria Ponomareva (head coach), her assistants were Evgenia Spirina and Kristina Naumenko (physical training coach).
The technical sponsor of the new club is the official distributor of the Spanish sports brand Joma in Turkmenistan.
“Our goal is to develop women’s football, inspire the younger generation and make a strong statement not only on the national but also on the international stage,” the club’s press service said in a statement.
