On August 21, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Malaysia M. Mashalov held talks with Chairman of the Malaysian Senate, Senator Dato Awang Boehme bin Awang Ali Basahi in the building of the Malaysian Parliament in Kuala Lumpur. The discussion focused on the current state and prospects of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, the press service of the Turkmen embassy reported to Turkmenportal.
The meeting participants emphasized the important role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening political and diplomatic ties. Particular attention was paid to the need to intensify the activities of the Turkmen-Malaysian parliamentary friendship groups of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Parliament of Malaysia.
The parties considered the possibility of organizing mutual visits of parliamentarians and holding joint meetings of friendship groups. During the talks, the Turkmen ambassador invited the Chairman of the Malaysian Senate to visit Turkmenistan.
The meeting participants noted the high level of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia and expressed their readiness to further develop bilateral cooperation on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis.
