On August 15, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea Begench Durdyev met with the President of Korea Lee Jae-myung as part of official events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the national holiday - Liberation Day, the website of the diplomatic mission reports.
The diplomatic event was attended by the Korean head of state and other senior government officials. In his address, President Lee Jae-myung touched upon key issues of national policy, including the heroic struggle of the Korean people for freedom and the desire for national reunification.
The head of state particularly emphasized the importance of maintaining the Korean Peninsula free of nuclear weapons, developing cooperation with Japan despite historical contradictions, as well as preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the third quarter of this year.
During a brief conversation with the Korean leader, Ambassador Durdyev conveyed warm congratulations and heartfelt greetings from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the national holiday.
The President of Korea expressed gratitude for the congratulations and asked to convey his greetings and best wishes to the leadership of Turkmenistan.
