The incident occurred in Annapolis County when the aircraft crashed into shallow water while on a firefighting mission, according to the province's Department of Natural Resources. The pilot was conscious when rescued and is currently undergoing medical evaluation, CBC News reported.
The forest fire that the crew was trying to extinguish was caused by a lightning strike. The fire started on Wednesday and required the use of aircraft to fight the blaze.
