Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the head of the World Taekwondo Federation Chungwon Chow, who presented the Kazakh leader with a ninth dan black belt, tengrinews.kz reports.
During the meeting, the head of state awarded the President of the World Taekwondo Federation with the Order of “Dostyk”, 2nd degree.
Tokayev noted that Chungwon Chow's visit is a significant event for the sports community of Kazakhstan and confirms the readiness of the World Taekwondo Federation to provide comprehensive assistance to the development of this sport in the country.
“Taekwondo is not only an Olympic sport, but also a philosophy based on the principles of harmony, discipline and mutual respect, uniting millions of people around the world,” the President of Kazakhstan emphasized.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also noted the importance of holding the international rating tournament Kazakhstan Open 2025 of category G1 in Astana. According to him, this tournament opens up broad opportunities for the professional growth of domestic athletes, exchange of experience and increasing the competitiveness of the national federation.
Ninth dan is one of the highest ranks in taekwondo, which is awarded for outstanding achievements in the development of martial art.
