Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan Atadurdy Bayramov took part in the commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which took place on August 6 and 9, respectively. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The ceremonies were attended by Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, cabinet members, leaders and members of parliament, representatives of international organizations, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Japan.
The commemorative events focused on the issues of abolishing the use of nuclear weapons and ending international conflicts.
The leaders of Hiroshima and Nagasaki called on heads of state to create security structures based on trust and built through dialogue.
The ceremonies resulted in the adoption of a peace declaration that calls on the Japanese government to sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The document also calls on world leaders to present a concrete roadmap for the elimination of nuclear weapons at the 2026 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference.
