Sultan Ibrahim became the first Malaysian head of state to visit Russia on a state visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, MIR24 reports.
The visit of the King of Malaysia is of historic significance, since in the 58 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and Malaysia, not a single Malaysian monarch has previously made an official state visit to the Russian capital.
Diplomatic relations between Russia and Malaysia were established in 1967, and since then the countries have maintained friendly ties for more than half a century.
