On August 6, a briefing was held in Avaza dedicated to the launch of the International Day for Dissemination of Awareness of the Special Needs and Problems Facing Landlocked Developing Countries.
The briefing was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island States Rabab Fatima, as well as Permanent Representative of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the UN, Chairman of the LLDC Group Diego Pacheco.
The speeches particularly noted that, according to the UN General Assembly resolution adopted at the end of July this year, August 6 is the first international day to be celebrated, the title of which notes the importance of raising awareness of the needs and problems of landlocked countries. This will give a powerful impetus to strengthening partnership for the benefit of these countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
This day will be a starting point for intensifying work to resolve the problems these countries face, including climate challenges, increased costs in the transportation of goods and services, and others.
Let us remind that the briefing took place within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which is currently taking place in Turkmenistan.
